“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Happy Anniversary!!

Today is our 4th Anniversary. It has been a wonderful four years. It's hard to put into words how I feel about Shayne...I love him more than anything else I've ever loved...even my horse! :) He is my "Edward"...and for those of you that know what I'm talking about...that's major!! So here's my attempt at expressing how much I love this man, and how grateful I am to have him in my life. I'm doing this for our children...I would love to have them read this someday, so they will know how much we truly love each other.

I have never been happier, and I'm thankful everyday for having Shayne in my life. He is my very best friend in the whole world. There is no one else I would rather spend my time and my life with. He is the most patient man when it comes to living and dealing with me and my strong personality. He respects me and my opinions and thoughts. He works hard so I can stay home with our son. He told me just last night that he likes having me home, which means a lot to me. He makes me laugh everyday, and I absolutely adore him for it. He tells me everyday he loves me, and never fails to give my lots of hugs and kisses...which I love. He is such an incredible man, and the perfect person for me.

I love him so much. I love all his little quirks...they make me laugh. I respect him, his opinions, and the decisions he makes for our family. I love to see how much he loves his little boy, and all the plans he has for the two of them in the future. He is a very good dad. I love that we are an active family...we are always doing something. I love Shayne's desire to see and experience life.

I'm thankful we were married in the temple, and get to be together forever. We are the perfect match for each other.

I love you babe...I will love you forever and a week!

Pronunciation

I'm doing a quick post to clear up how to pronounce Lachlan's name. I've been asked quite a few times in the past couple of weeks how to say his name...so here's the answer:

Lachlan = lock lan

It's a Celtic spelling so the "ch" makes a "k" sound. It's similar to Lochness, only we spelled it with an "a" instead of an "o". It means "from the land of lakes". No pun intended with a last name of Pond. :)

Hope that clears up some of the confusion.

p.s. Stay tuned for the rest of the Idaho trip.

Ririe, Idaho w/ the Pond Family

These pics are from our first week in Idaho. We went to Ririe to spend the week with Shayne's family. The pics are in backwards chronological order...so this first pic is at the end of the week, and the last pic is from our first day there. We had so much fun seeing everyone, and meeting PresLee (Lachlan's cousin) for the first time.

They also enjoyed meeting Lachlan for the first time. Everyone thinks Lachlan looks just like his daddy...and they're right. In fact one night Grandpa Pond was holding Lachlan, and commented on how much looking at him and the looks he was giving him was taking him back to when Shayne was a baby. Great Grandma Pond immediately commented on how he looked just like Shayne when he was a baby. It's all good though...I think Shayne's pretty cute.

Anyway...enjoy the pics.

Hanging out with Aunt Erica and Dustin Pond. Dustin thought the hat was perfect for a little Pond. :)

Chillin' with Aunt Tayler...or better known as Auntie Tay.

Lookin' at Grandpa Pond

Grandpa Pond does a good job of getting him to sleep.

Grandma Pond holding Lachlan, and Grandpa Pond holding PresLee...two cousins born 2 weeks apart.

Uncle Dallan meeting Lachlan for the first time...Dallan will also be known as Uncle Chuck to Lachlan...it's Shayne's nickname for Dallan...kinda funny.

Grandpa Pond meeting Lachlan for the first time at one of Tayler's basketball games.

The next few pics are of Lachlan and PresLee...KayCee came over on a Friday and just hung out all day with me. We couldn't resist taking pics of the cousins. Some of the pics are hilarious. You can already tell who's going to be in charge when we go visit...good thing Lachlan is so laid back about stuff, b/c cousin PresLee definitely runs the show! :)

Check out some of the looks on Lachlan's face...he's so funny.

Looks like PresLee is telling Lachlan to do something...and he's not so sure.

Pres decided to chew on Lachlan's hand for a bit...not sure he likes it so much in this pic. :)

Taking a much needed nap with Grandma Pond

Hangin' out with Auntie Tay after one of her basketball games...they won b/c Tay is such an incredible player.

Sshhh...Grandma Pond is doing cheerleading moves with Lachlan at Tay's game...I'm sure Shayne would object fairly loudly if he knew! :)

I'll post the rest of the pics of our Idaho trip tomorrow...I hope.

First Airplane Ride

These are a couple pics of Lachlan's first airplane ride. He was such a good boy for our trip. He mostly slept. When he was awake, he was completely content just checking everything and everybody out. He was so cute. I had lots of people tell me what a good boy he was, and how cute he was. I must say...I had to agree! :)

On the airplane...just chillin'

in the Seattle Airport while I ate breakfast...such a good boy!

Anchorage Airport at about 2am...just before we started boarding.

This was just a pic of me & Lachlan a day or two before we left for Idaho.
