“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

4 Months!!

I'm 4 months old!!

Ok, Ok...back to the good ole', "I'm a first time mom, so all I can blog about is my most wonderful, beautiful and perfect child." Why would I even for a second consider blogging about something cool, like a volcano?! Huh...what was I thinking?! (BTW...it has not yet erupted...and the seismic activity has dropped a little...I'm sure it'll go off right before we fly out for Idaho!)

Anywho...Lachlan turned 4 months old on Thursday Jan. 29th. He had his 4 month appointment on Tuesday and he weighed in at a whoppin' 13 lb 4 oz and is 24" long. You all might think he's still rather small...but I'll have you know he jumped from the 10% bracket back in November, to the 25% bracket for both weight and height! So there...he is growing! His 3-6 month clothes are still too big though...regardless of what Becky and Darcy say. I also think he's in a growth spurt, b/c he's been waking up every 3-4 hours at night to eat, and he's never done that before.

He's also right on track for all the developmental "stuff". He's grabbing things placed in front of him, and he's just started to roll from belly to back. He had to learn how, b/c he hates his "tummy time"! Drives him crazy to be on his tummy...he can't see anything. :) My most favorite thing right now would have to be his giggle...it is so hilarious and cute. Makes me giggle when he giggles, and that makes him giggle more...I'm sure you can see where this is going.

We did have a bit of a traumatic experience at the Dr. appointment. We've known since his 2 week appointment that he's been a bit tongue-tied...go look it up, I'm not going to explain. However, we decided to wait it out, and see if it would stretch naturally from nursing. Well...it hasn't. I promise I knew this b/c I'm still pretty darn sore from nursing him. It makes it much more difficult to get a correct latch-on.

So, Tuesday Doc finally said he would clip the little piece of skin under his tongue. It's supposed to be a fairly pain-free/blood-free procedure...according to Doc. Good thing Shayne was with me to be the bad guy/ER nurse, b/c it WAS NOT pain/blood free. It was HORRIBLE!! I won't go into all the details, but let's just say both Lachlan and I were pretty traumatized(when I say "pretty", I mean, "I went home and cried all night for what I had done to my little boy."), and Shayne was pretty concerned as well. Lachlan also had to get 3 injections for his vaccinations. Not a good day!!

Now that it's all done and over...it was worth it. Lachlan's been nursing MUCH better...I'm no longer sore, and he's been using his tongue to "talk" and "taste" things. We just had to keep him on Tylenol and Ibuprofen for 2 days to keep the low-grade fever from the vaccs down, and his poor little tongue from getting too sore.

Whew...it's been a long week! But it's over...yeah! Ok...enjoy the many pics, b/c I am a very obsessed mother, who thinks everyone should just be on the edge of their seats to see the lastest installment of "Lachlan grows up!" :) I am so sorry for all of you...but I love you all for looking. :)

So, after I got done with the 4-month pics, I put him in his pj's, and loved them so much I had to take a pic of him in them.

So, I took these about a month too late...but I had to take them. We didn't get any "Santa Claus" pics, b/c of our trip to Idaho. We also got this very cute outfit from Kaye's parents, Paul and Chris Worthen, and I loved it! So, to document how big, or little, he was on his first Christmas, I dressed him up with that adorable little hat and took a pic. :)

Shayne thinks he looks like a Gnome in the hat! :)

Grabbing his toys. I love that he can entertain himself for a little longer now with them.

I absolutley LOVE the looks he gives me...I tried to catch them while he was in his little jumper. Thank you Darcy for letting me borrow it...he loves it! :)

I think we have a "blankie baby" on our hands...it's ok...I happened to be a blankie baby.

Last time in this little church outfit...I got it from my mom, and I love it. I get comments on it every Sunday. But, the vest is getting a little tight.

First time in his jumper. He loves to just hang out and watch everything while he just kinda bounces around.

Grabbing his rattle...and my hand. This was the first night he was getting really good at it.

Our 4-year anniversary date. So nice to go out with Shayne.

Reading the books we got from Grammy Jo for Christmas. He actually loves looking at books...and eating his fingers! :)

Mt. Redoubt

Mt. Redoubt during one of the last times it erupted on April 21, 1990

Anyone ever been in a volcanic eruption, other than in Hawaii? Me either. However, I'm about to add "Experience a volcanic eruption." to my list of life achievements. Yup...good ole' Mt. Redoubt, which is about 50 miles west of us here in Soldotna, is about to erupt. (See map below)

The geologists are saying it's not a matter of "if" but "when". And...here's what the official website says currently:

2009-01-30 11:47:26
Seismicity at Redoubt has increased markedly over the last 20 minutes. Clear webcam views and pilot reports indicate that the volcano has not yet erupted.

The Aviation Color Code remains at ORANGE and the Volcano Alert Level remains at WATCH.

We have dust-masks and food/water in preparation. It's kinda cool, but we don't get magma...we just get lots and lots of ash...not so much fun to clean up. It destroys your cars, and electronics.

Anyway...that's the exciting news for us here in Alaska...a volcano.

Huh.

What am I doing up here?

Sun...where?!?!

11 am

12 noon

2pm

3pm

4pm

I took these pictures about 3 weeks ago when it was insanely cold here. When I say insanely, I mean if we were lucky our high was getting up to -10...that's if we were lucky!! So, while we had some wonderful days of sunshine, Alaska style, it was way too cold to enjoy it. I took them just outside our south facing door, looking at our little bunk house. Notice the sun doesn't come up in the east...it's the very south-east, and it goes down in the very south-west.

Anyway...I took them at 11am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3pm and 4 pm...sorry missed 1pm, but I think you get the picture. Yup...5 hours of sunlight...gotta love Alaska!

I cried today...just a little

So I cried today, but just a little. I was cleaning Lachlan's room, going through his clothes. I was putting away his 0-3 month clothes, and getting out his 3-6 month clothes. Now, he's not totally out grown his 0-3 month clothes, but some of them are starting to look a little tight. So, I thought I would move to his next size. I didn't realize how much it would affect me. We worked so hard and for so long to get our little miracle baby. Now he's here, and I don't want him to grow up. It has been so amazing and so wonderful having a new baby, and I know it will be just as wonderful as he grows, but still...we may only get this chance once. I just love him and everything about him so much...now can you see why I cried today...just a little?

3 Months(a little late)...Bumbo's are our friends!

Here's our little man on his 3 month birthday...never mind that it was on Dec.29th. So I'm a little behind. And...can I just say that the Bumbo is my new best friend?! Thank you Becky for letting me borrow it. I asked her to use it way before Lachlan was born b/c I had heard so many good things about them. I must say, "I-I-I-I-I...I'm a believer" (this is sung to the Neil Diamond song...at least that's who I hope it is.)

How can you not just fall in love with that smile?!

This is what happens when you use the Baby Bjorn to do housework...hmmm...might have to do this more often.

Our Week...and then some...in Malad

Warning: Lots and lots o' pics!! Little note at bottom...scroll at your own risk! :)

My brother-in-law, Austin, with one of his little boys, Addler on Christmas Eve. Addler had fallen asleep like that on his dad's lap. Pic on the right is of Christmas Day dinner. Front L-R: Maestin, Addler, Ruxton (all Maysi and Austin's boys), Me with Lachlan. Back L-R: Bowdrie, Maysi with Holdan, Austin, Grandpa Price, and Grandma Price.

Christmas Eve at Great Grandma Prices...my Aunt LaNora is holding him with her youngest, my cousin, Anthony smiling at him. Another cousin Cody, her next to youngest, holding him.

Chillin' with Maggie again in the bouncy seat. She's a good baby dog...doesn't lick, just lays next to them.

My poor son has some wierd uncles! He's just chillin' with Bowd on the left, but the sad thing is that Bowd had done the exact same thing with those pj's that my brother Kade is doing in the pic on the right...It's sadder that they let me take pics of them doing this!

Crazy Uncle Kade with his little boy Gavin on the 4-wheeler. But, Gavin had fun, and so did the dogs if you couldn't tell. They love it when Kade comes to visit...he's CRAZY on the 4-wheeler!

Me on the roping horse dummy roping the dummy steer...Too many dummies for me! :) I'm actually talking to Shayne in the pic on the right. I'll have you know I think I only missed twice, and I must have roped it 50 times! Yeah for me!!

Sittin' in the saddle for the first, but not last time. It's just a roping horse dummie, so it was safe. Kinda cute pic.

L: Hanging out with Ashely and cousin Braylee in the snow, and Uncle Bowd decided to crash our picture. R: Hanging out with Grandpa Price in the tractor while he was scraping all the snow.

Seeing a horse for the first time. Zan was just as curious...they were both checking eachother out. I think Zan just wanted a good scratch though...such a sucker for attention.

Kinzie asleep in the swing on Saturday night of our Christmas party, and Lachlan asleep in it the next morning while I got ready for church. So glad Grandma has a swing!

Grandma Price holding Lachlan and Addler coming to see him.

Lachlan with Great Grandma Price and Bowdrie putting on one of the hats I made for all the grandkids...it's a little small.

Ok...the pic on the left is of my family minus my mom and dad who were taking the pics...and of course Shayne. My mom put her finger on the flash, and the second pic she took had nearly everyone's eyes closed...what's up with that? The pic on the right is of all the grandkids with the little fleece hats I made for all of them. Here's order L-R: Maestin with Lachlan, Ruxton with Holdan, Addler with Zane, Gavin with Braylee, and Jayvin with Kinzie...we are a little heavy on the boys in case you couldn't tell. :)

My brothers and sisters with and without our babies in our birth order, L-R: Me, Maysi, Kade, Dezi, Shancy, and Bowdrie (he's holding his "baby" in the picture...he felt left out!)

Grandma and Grandpa Price with the babies. Left pic: Braylee, Zane, Kinzie, Lachlan, and Holdan. Right pic: Grandma with Zane, Kinzie, Lachlan. Grandpa with Braylee and Holdan.

The babies in order of their birth: Ashley holding Braylee, Maysi with Holdan, Dezi with Kinzie, Me with Lachlan, and Shancy with Zane

Me with some high school friends: Front L-R: Michelle (holding Krystal's baby Bailey), and KayCee (Krystal's little girl). Back L-R: Me, Krystal holding her little girl Riley, and Daniele holding Lachlan.

Dezi doing a little babysitting so I could shower. She has her little girl Kinzie and Lachlan.

Addler holding Lachlan...Addler loves the babies.

Ruxton (and Maggie) helping babysit Lachlan at Grandma Price's house. So cute with him.

Laughing with Uncle Bowdrie

Lachlan hanging out with Maggie, she is the mother to our dog Tipz, and they are very similiar.

The three littlest boys: Holdan, Lachlan, and Zane

Hanging out with my cousin Kolton (he hung out at the house for a couple of days, and it was so fun to have him around) and wierd Uncle Bowdrie

Checking out Uncle Bowdrie for the first time.

Napping with Grandpa Price

Here's the rest of the pictures from our trip to Idaho...this is from the week, and then some, while I was in Malad. We got to go to Great Grandma and Grandpa Woodbury in Mackay and see their new house, which was fun. I also had lots of fun meeting a new niece and nephew and taking pictures of all the babies, 5 of them in 6 months! Lachlan got to meet his first horse...nothing like seeing my parents stud horse Zan for the first time. Zan is a sucker for attention. I also put Lachlan on a roping horse dummy, much safer at this point than the real thing. I however, did saddle up and ride a real horse while I was there. Never mind I had snow pelting me in the face as I rode...it was so nice to be back in the saddle again. (Do you hear a country song?) Sorry I don't have a picture of my riding, everyone but my dad and I went in the house to get out of the snow. As far as Christmas...I didn't take hardly any pictures of Christmas morning...I was pretty depressed I wasn't spending it with Shayne...but I did take one of the Christmas dinner. I realize now how dumb it was of me to not take pics...but what can you do?

Anywho...lots of pics, but that's what you do when you only see family every 6 months, and you have a new baby.
