Ok, Ok...back to the good ole', "I'm a first time mom, so all I can blog about is my most wonderful, beautiful and perfect child." Why would I even for a second consider blogging about something cool, like a volcano?! Huh...what was I thinking?! (BTW...it has not yet erupted...and the seismic activity has dropped a little...I'm sure it'll go off right before we fly out for Idaho!)
Anywho...Lachlan turned 4 months old on Thursday Jan. 29th. He had his 4 month appointment on Tuesday and he weighed in at a whoppin' 13 lb 4 oz and is 24" long. You all might think he's still rather small...but I'll have you know he jumped from the 10% bracket back in November, to the 25% bracket for both weight and height! So there...he is growing! His 3-6 month clothes are still too big though...regardless of what Becky and Darcy say. I also think he's in a growth spurt, b/c he's been waking up every 3-4 hours at night to eat, and he's never done that before.
He's also right on track for all the developmental "stuff". He's grabbing things placed in front of him, and he's just started to roll from belly to back. He had to learn how, b/c he hates his "tummy time"! Drives him crazy to be on his tummy...he can't see anything. :) My most favorite thing right now would have to be his giggle...it is so hilarious and cute. Makes me giggle when he giggles, and that makes him giggle more...I'm sure you can see where this is going.
We did have a bit of a traumatic experience at the Dr. appointment. We've known since his 2 week appointment that he's been a bit tongue-tied...go look it up, I'm not going to explain. However, we decided to wait it out, and see if it would stretch naturally from nursing. Well...it hasn't. I promise I knew this b/c I'm still pretty darn sore from nursing him. It makes it much more difficult to get a correct latch-on.
So, Tuesday Doc finally said he would clip the little piece of skin under his tongue. It's supposed to be a fairly pain-free/blood-free procedure...according to Doc. Good thing Shayne was with me to be the bad guy/ER nurse, b/c it WAS NOT pain/blood free. It was HORRIBLE!! I won't go into all the details, but let's just say both Lachlan and I were pretty traumatized(when I say "pretty", I mean, "I went home and cried all night for what I had done to my little boy."), and Shayne was pretty concerned as well. Lachlan also had to get 3 injections for his vaccinations. Not a good day!!
Now that it's all done and over...it was worth it. Lachlan's been nursing MUCH better...I'm no longer sore, and he's been using his tongue to "talk" and "taste" things. We just had to keep him on Tylenol and Ibuprofen for 2 days to keep the low-grade fever from the vaccs down, and his poor little tongue from getting too sore.
Whew...it's been a long week! But it's over...yeah! Ok...enjoy the many pics, b/c I am a very obsessed mother, who thinks everyone should just be on the edge of their seats to see the lastest installment of "Lachlan grows up!" :) I am so sorry for all of you...but I love you all for looking. :)
