“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

4 Months!!

I'm 4 months old!!

Ok, Ok...back to the good ole', "I'm a first time mom, so all I can blog about is my most wonderful, beautiful and perfect child." Why would I even for a second consider blogging about something cool, like a volcano?! Huh...what was I thinking?! (BTW...it has not yet erupted...and the seismic activity has dropped a little...I'm sure it'll go off right before we fly out for Idaho!)

Anywho...Lachlan turned 4 months old on Thursday Jan. 29th. He had his 4 month appointment on Tuesday and he weighed in at a whoppin' 13 lb 4 oz and is 24" long. You all might think he's still rather small...but I'll have you know he jumped from the 10% bracket back in November, to the 25% bracket for both weight and height! So there...he is growing! His 3-6 month clothes are still too big though...regardless of what Becky and Darcy say. I also think he's in a growth spurt, b/c he's been waking up every 3-4 hours at night to eat, and he's never done that before.

He's also right on track for all the developmental "stuff". He's grabbing things placed in front of him, and he's just started to roll from belly to back. He had to learn how, b/c he hates his "tummy time"! Drives him crazy to be on his tummy...he can't see anything. :) My most favorite thing right now would have to be his giggle...it is so hilarious and cute. Makes me giggle when he giggles, and that makes him giggle more...I'm sure you can see where this is going.

We did have a bit of a traumatic experience at the Dr. appointment. We've known since his 2 week appointment that he's been a bit tongue-tied...go look it up, I'm not going to explain. However, we decided to wait it out, and see if it would stretch naturally from nursing. Well...it hasn't. I promise I knew this b/c I'm still pretty darn sore from nursing him. It makes it much more difficult to get a correct latch-on.

So, Tuesday Doc finally said he would clip the little piece of skin under his tongue. It's supposed to be a fairly pain-free/blood-free procedure...according to Doc. Good thing Shayne was with me to be the bad guy/ER nurse, b/c it WAS NOT pain/blood free. It was HORRIBLE!! I won't go into all the details, but let's just say both Lachlan and I were pretty traumatized(when I say "pretty", I mean, "I went home and cried all night for what I had done to my little boy."), and Shayne was pretty concerned as well. Lachlan also had to get 3 injections for his vaccinations. Not a good day!!

Now that it's all done and over...it was worth it. Lachlan's been nursing MUCH better...I'm no longer sore, and he's been using his tongue to "talk" and "taste" things. We just had to keep him on Tylenol and Ibuprofen for 2 days to keep the low-grade fever from the vaccs down, and his poor little tongue from getting too sore.

Whew...it's been a long week! But it's over...yeah! Ok...enjoy the many pics, b/c I am a very obsessed mother, who thinks everyone should just be on the edge of their seats to see the lastest installment of "Lachlan grows up!" :) I am so sorry for all of you...but I love you all for looking. :)

So, after I got done with the 4-month pics, I put him in his pj's, and loved them so much I had to take a pic of him in them.

So, I took these about a month too late...but I had to take them. We didn't get any "Santa Claus" pics, b/c of our trip to Idaho. We also got this very cute outfit from Kaye's parents, Paul and Chris Worthen, and I loved it! So, to document how big, or little, he was on his first Christmas, I dressed him up with that adorable little hat and took a pic. :)

Shayne thinks he looks like a Gnome in the hat! :)

Grabbing his toys. I love that he can entertain himself for a little longer now with them.

I absolutley LOVE the looks he gives me...I tried to catch them while he was in his little jumper. Thank you Darcy for letting me borrow it...he loves it! :)

I think we have a "blankie baby" on our hands...it's ok...I happened to be a blankie baby.

Last time in this little church outfit...I got it from my mom, and I love it. I get comments on it every Sunday. But, the vest is getting a little tight.

First time in his jumper. He loves to just hang out and watch everything while he just kinda bounces around.

Grabbing his rattle...and my hand. This was the first night he was getting really good at it.

Our 4-year anniversary date. So nice to go out with Shayne.

Reading the books we got from Grammy Jo for Christmas. He actually loves looking at books...and eating his fingers! :)

He is too stinking cute. I can't believe he's already four months! And how can they possibly say that clipping a tongue is going to be pain and blood free? It's one of the most sensitive places on the body, and it's full of blood vessels. HELLO! I'm glad he survived, and so glad it was worth it. If he was still nursing bad and you were still sore, it would be worse. But since it's better, I guess the pain was necessary. But still.... Don't you think it would have been easier on you if you'd have known it would be bloody and he would cry?
