“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Shordy-isms

This kid continually cracks us up...if you haven't read the post from June about all his latest dialogues you must read them, b/c this is just a continuation of them.

This one kinda made me sad...Yesterday, Shayne asked him if he was his little boy, and The Bug answered, "Nope. I not yittle. I big!" So, then I asked him if he was my little boy, and he said, "Nope. I NOT yittle. I BIG!" So, I said, "Ok. Are you my big boy?!" And he promptly replied, "Yes! I not yittle. I big." I'm so sad he already thinks he's a big boy. I want him to stay my little boy forever.

We had to call Grandpa Price and tell him this story: Yesterday we woke up to the Borough doing some road work on our road. So, there was a ba
ckhoe in our driveway digging up dirt and putting it in a dump truck. The Bug immediately thought it was was Grandpa in the tractor. He still remembers riding in the tractor last year with my dad doing chores. So, every time he sees a tractor he thinks it's Grandpa in the tractor. So, I told him it was just a guy and not Grandpa. But then he sees the backhoe dumping the dirt/plants into the dump truck and this conversation ensued:

"Yook mom! Tractor's sharing wif the dump truck! He's sharing wif the dump truck!"
"Ya, he is sharing isn't he?" (I'm trying not to laugh as I'm talking to him). "What's he sharing with him?"
"Oh, jus dirt."
"Just dirt huh?"
"Yes. And vegebles."
"And vegetables?"
"Yes. Jus carrots."
"He's sharing vegetables, carrots, and dirt with the dumptruck?"
"Yes. Da tractor sharing his dirt, and vegebles, just carrots, wif the dumptruck."
"Wow. That's pretty cool huh?"

I actually filmed him saying this, b/c it was so dang funny. He thought the plants they were digging up were vegetables...and particularly, carrots. My dad thought it was pretty funny when i called him to share the story.

This last story melted my heart. This little boy loves his baby sister. He loves to talk to her, and touch her little ears, hands, nose, feet, etc. When I get up one of the first things he asks is where she is. And, a couple of times a day he asks to hold her. So, he climbs up on the couch, grabs the boppy, wraps it around his waist and then holds her. He often asks for her burp rag so he can pat her back and burp her. About a week ago, he was holding her like this and then he says, "Mom, she's my bery bes friend. She's my bery bes friend mom." Then he gave her a hug and a cute little kiss on the top of her head.

I hope he always thinks they are "Bery bes friends."

2 Months!!

Our Sweet Pea is 2 months old!!

I took her to Doc's for her checkup and she's doing great! She weighed in at 11 lbs 8.5 oz, was 23.125" long, and her head was 15.125" around. That puts her in the 75% for both weight and length and 50% for her head. So she's just truckin' right along.

Doc's only comments were that her skin looked very nice and she needed to grow more hair. :) He calls her "Frostbite" at his office and at church, so she has a new nickname. She only got one vaccination b/c they were out of the others so we need to go back and do those...not my most favorite thing to do. She did do pretty well on the vaccs though, only cried for a minute.

She's not a big fan of being on her tummy. She only tolerates it for a little bit. She spits up WAY more than The Bug ever did, and when you put her on her tummy she urps up her last meal. So, we have to wait a bit after feeding her before we can put her on her tummy. She did enjoy it ok for these pics though...she didn't last much longer after taking these. Notice the bow? I have to put a bow on whenever we go into town to make sure people know she's a girl. Poor thing, she really needs that fuzz that's started to grow on her head to get longer so we can make her look more like a girl. :)

We have loved having this sweet little girl. She's very interactive and loves to be talked to and give you smiles. She's a very pleasant little girl. She still loves to eat and she's a GREAT sleeper and napper. She will sleep about 7 hours at night, eat, and then fall asleep for another 3-4 hours. It's AWESOME!! She will also take a 2-3 hour nap in the late morning, early afternoon, and sometimes I can even get her and The Bug down for a nap at the same time! She's starting to "coo" and want to "talk" a little more and I love it. She really has been such a great baby.

We love her!!

Hangin' Out Together

Almost nap time for The Bug...you can tell w/ those sleepy eyes.

Playin' w/ the owie on his elbow.

Sweet smiles from my Sweet Pea

I love taking pics of my kiddos, especially when they're so cute like this. The Bug thought Sweet Pea's play mat was pretty cool, so he laid down by her to play with her and show her her toys.

He seriously loves his baby sister. He's so sweet to her. He thinks she's the cutest thing, and says so all the time.

Have I mentioned I love seeing my kids together?

Have I mentioned I love having kids?

Sockeye

The Reds are in...and boy are they in!

In one day we had like 245,000 Red Salmon hit the Kenai River!! That's a record...I think.

Anyway, Shayne has been stopping at the river right after work and catching his limit and then coming home. We are taking these fish to our family in Idaho...per their request.

So, he brings them home to fillet so The Bug can see the big fish...and boy did he have fun with them!

I loved these pics. The one Red/Sockeye is way small...smaller than most of the trout in that river. But, it was just right for The Bug to hold.

Such a cute pic of a dad and his little boy.

Smiles for Her Toys

This little girl is so engaging...she looks so intently at everything. So, I got out the little caterpillar play mat The Bug used as a baby. She loves it. Her attention span is a bit short...she's not even two months yet...but it's fun to see her looking at her new toys.

She was also smiling lots and lots for her mommy and her toys.

Such a sweet baby. Love her lots!

Homer Beach & The Chainsaw Festival

Kaye's family were up visiting her so they decided to drive down here for a couple of days and explore on the Kenai Peninsula.

One day we all went down to Homer and had lunch on the Homer Spit. It was very windy but hanging out on the beach is always a little bit fun.

The next day we all went to the Chainsaw festival just outside of town. It's a very cool little place where everything is carved out of wood. We took some pics on a very Alaskan sort of carousel...all the animals were carved from wood. The Bug and Malia loved it!

The Bug wasn't in the best mood. He rode with Malia to the festival just ahead of us, and right before we got there, they were taking a pic together in front of a big wooden moose and as they were getting down they both fell. Somehow they both hit their heads on rocks and cracked their heads open. Malia's didn't really bleed, but she was very traumatized by The Bug's bleeding head. She felt really bad for him. But, he recovered quickly. It probably should've had stitches, but it was in his hair, and no one will ever see that scar...until he goes bald like his dad. Poor kid! :) So, we just stayed at the festival and hung out. So, he's not real smiley, b/c I think he had a bit of headache.

It was fun to hang out with Kaye's family...they are like our family too.

Road Kill

On our way back from Homer one day Shayne all of the sudden stopped the car and turned around. When I asked what we were doing he informed me there was a dead pheasant rooster on the road and we were going back for it.

And...we did go back for it. He pulled off the side and ran back to where the poor pheasant had been hit by a car and brought him back to the car. Wasn't I the proud wife! :)

When we got home he proceeded to pluck the poor things feathers so he could use them to tie flies for his fly fishing.

He was pretty proud of himself for being so smart...now he doesn't have to buy those feathers. He's all about saving money! :)
