“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Happy Halloween and One Month B-day!!

In his puppy suit, w/ his little fingers poking out. He wouldn't put them in the sleeves.

With daddy at the end of the "Trunk or Treat"...he fell asleep so he couldn't have been too cold...right?

With mommy at the beginning...notice he's still awake...w/ little fingers poking out.

Crazy "Aunt" Becky holding him while attacking a caramel apple! She did keep the caramel from dripping on him though...would hate to waste any of the yummy caramel!

Braden loving on Lachlan. He just loved holding him and looking at all his small fingers, toes, tongue, etc...it was so cute!! They are going to be little buddies.

At his 4 week appointment...he was a little worn out after all the prodding by everyone in the office.

His 1 month b-day. I'll take a pic of him w/ this little bear on the 29th of every month to show how much he's grown. Thanks Liz for that idea!

I couldn't pick just one pic of his 1 month b-day. He got the stuffed bear from one of Shayne's basketball boys...who's since identified himself as his "Godfather". He's the only Mormon kid w/ a godfather...an Italian one at that...for real. We love Joe...he's a great kid!

Here are some pics of Lachlan's first Halloween, his one month b-day, and his 4 week appointment. He weighed in at a whopping 7lbs 13oz and is 21 1/2 inches long. I'm pretty sure his length measurements at birth weren't very accurate, b/c if they are he's grown 3 inches in 4 weeks...I don't think so! :) Anyway...he's in the 12% range for weight (he was in the 10% range when he was born, so he's actually right on track), and the 50% range for length.

We ventured out to the ward "Trunk or Treat" this evening, and had a blast! He was dressed up as a little puppy...not that you could tell b/c we had him so bundled up. It was so fun to have a baby to dress up for Halloween!

He's such a wonderful baby...we absolutely love him to death!! I'll post some more pics after Sunday, when we bless him.

p.s. I just have to say congrats to Shancy who finally had her baby on Wednesday, Oct. 29th. Zane Stephen Lusk was 9lbs 2 oz, and 22 inches long. He's a little chub...but a very cute chub. All 5 "Price" babies are now here...and my mom is very much relieved! :)

Pics for Grandma's

Watching Sunday football w/ Dad

First hockey game here in Soldotna. Sorry his hands are in his face...that's where they usually are.
I bought him this snowsuit/bunting...but he's a little small for it still. I promise I got the 0-3 month size. I was going to put him in it for the hockey game, but it would have drowned him, so we just bundled him up instead.

My friend Laurie Wilkenson holding Lachlan. She is one of the "horse-people" I work and hang out with.

Dad gave him another mohawk, but you can't really see it. It was a cute pic of him though.

Margie Brown holding Lachlan. She thinks he's just the cutest thing, and has been waiting a long time to hold him.

This is after his bath...have you seen a more annoyed look from a baby?! He is NOT happy with me at this point. He wouldn't cry...just give me dirty looks. Too funny!!

His first real bath...not a sponge bath. He wasn't a huge fan, as you can tell from the pic above.

Showing off the t-shirt Grandma Price sent him for Halloween. The shirt is a preemie size and fits pretty well, but the pants are a little long for him.

Another pic of his Halloween shirt from Grandma Price. I just loved the look he had on his face.

This is how he spends some of his awake time...in the bouncy chair just hanging out.

Close-up of the cutest baby face in the whole world!
Trying to talk, but mostly just grunting. He's starting to get more vocal every day.

Here are some pics from the last 10 days. I need to apologize to the grandma's for not getting more photos up sooner. Sorry!!

He's been smiling more and "talking" more, which is so fun. He's sleeping 6 hours at night, which is wonderful! We are night people anyway, so we put him to bed between 12:30-1:30 am, and he sleeps until about 7-7:30 the next morning. He's eating really well, and is scheduled to have his one month appt. on Tuesday. We'll see then how much he's grown. I can't believe that tomorrow he'll be 4 weeks old! It's fun to see him develop, but I hate how fast the time is flying by. I've loved having a tiny newborn in our house...it's been pretty amazing.

Anyway...we are blessing him next Sunday, and his Grandma Pond (Grammy Jo), is flying up this coming Saturday to be here for the blessing and to hang out with her grandson for about 10 days.

I'll try to keep more pics coming a little more regularly, but I make no promises!

2 Weeks and Growing

Here are a few of the latest pics of Lachlan. He had his two week appointment on Tuesday, and is weighing in at a whopping 7 lbs 1 oz. He's gained back all the weight he lost initially and then some. So, he's eating well. Everything else checked out as well...minus the fact that he's a little bit tongue tied, which is why latching on to eat isn't his best talent, but he's learning and getting a little bit better everyday. He's actually a very good baby. He only gets up once during the night to eat, and only fusses when he's hungry, and even then it's not bad. He loves to look around and is very alert after eating. He's been smiling in response to stimuli, so it's not just him passing gas! :) His smiles are the cutest...I tell him mulitple times a day that I think he's just the cutest baby I've ever seen. Grandma Pond, or Grammy Jo, has requested some video of him so she can hear and see him in action, so we'll see about getting some video on our blog.

I'm sure that some of you will get bored of the pics of Lachlan, and me ranting on and on about how cute and wonderful he is...but I know my family will appreciate the pics...and that's the whole purpose of our blog...to keep our family up to date on our life that now includes a "little man".

His first outing to the gym. It was some of the young women I had at girls' camp last year final volleyball game, and they asked Shayne and I to come see them play. So...here's his first documented pic at the gym, with MANY more of them to come.

Does this look familiar to anyone who's had a new baby? I had no idea Shayne took this pic. It's actually about 9:30 in the morning, but I'm not getting as much sleep as I used to...so this little nap felt pretty darn good.

Just hanging out after being fed. He's so alert...stays awake for about an hour after eating...cute during the day...not so cute at 4:30 in the morning. :)

Daddy Shayne on burping duty...I thought it was cute how he was peeking over his shoulder.

Peeking out of his car seat. He's actually a good traveler...he likes getting out and about.

At the Dr.'s office...notice his little Teva's. They fit great, and actually stay on his tiny feet. I think they are too cute.

I just love to stare at him...I think he's the most beautiful baby in the world.

This is where his hands are most of the time...right next to his face.

Not his first bath...my mom, his grandma gave him that, but his first bath with both mom and dad...not sure if we're doing it right, but he survived! :)

I love it when he looks at me like this...right into my face. So cute!

Dad doing diaper duty. Shayne actually changes lots of diapers, and is usually the one changing his clothes. He's an awfully good daddy!!

Lots o' Firsts!

So these pics are for our family that hasn't had a chance to meet Lachlan yet. I will be posting lots of pics of him for the next little bit, it helps both of our families feel like they are still involved in seeing the changes that are happening with our "little man".

Lachlan staring up at my mom. He stays awake for about an hour after feeding and just stares at you. It's the cutest thing you've ever seen.

This is what it looked like on Tuesday morning. My parents had to drive back to Anchorage in this weather, but at 5 am, in a rental car, and on unfamiliar roads. It wasn't their funnest drive! But...it was Lachlan's first snowfall. I took a pic of him and Shayne out our side door. That's our little guest cabin that you can see.

Shayne gave Lachlan a little mohawk. I think it's so funny how you can just see his little eyeballs and nose peeking out. He's like a little peanut.

Shayne and Lachlan taking a nap on the floor, with company. Tipz and Bo decided to join in. They've been really good, and fairly uninterested in Lachlan at this point. He hasn't been licked yet...which is ok with me!

This is one of my most favorite pics. We are still in the hospital and Lachlan is awake after feeding and just staring up at Shayne...it's so cute.

Lachlan's first trip in the carseat. We were just getting ready to leave the hospital. He slept all the way home...yeah for me!!

Yup...his first thumbsucking photo. I was a thumbsucker until I was five, so I'm a little concerned he's going to be too. He's definitely a binky baby...loves to have something in his mouth to suck on...we'll hopefully be able to stay with the binky...easier to break him of that habit.

First road trip. We went with my parents to Homer on Friday afternoon. This is me and him sitting in the front seat getting ready to feed him while my parents and Shayne went and wandered the boat docks.

This is Lachlan and my mom in his first little outfit...the Swanson's and the Hansen's had a dinner for us on Monday night. It was fun to actually put him in an outfit, even though no one saw it b/c he was wrapped up in a blanket the whole time. It was all good though...still fun!

I just have to say, I loved having my parents here for a few days. It was nice to just sit and talk to my mom as I was feeding Lachlan. I was very much sad to see them go...it's harder than I thought to not have family up here while having a baby. But...I know we are where we are supposed to be so it will be ok. It was nice to have my mom up here though. She helped out lots and lots! Love you mom!

A family of 3

G'day to everyone from the hospital still. We are hanging out one more night to try and get the most out of our hospital experience, not like I'm not here enough anyway! So it's been a pretty good couple of days, getting used to having a little kid that I have to be responsible for is going to be a little bit of a change for me. Not just taking care of Pepper, who takes care of herself mostly, or the fly rods which just need to be used on a frequent basis! Now something besides the two dogs that eats, sleeps, poops, cries regularly and can't tell you what's going on with him. Lachlan seems to be doing very well, still getting used to the feeding part of life but hey that just takes practice right? He got circumcised today, yes I went to watch. Wasn't too bad, nice of the doc to numb him up right before the procedure so that was the majority of the pain, well until it wore off. It's thrown off his rhythm quite a bit. He was feeding pretty well before the snip job but has been a little bit off since then, justifiably so wouldn't you think? well at least the guys would sympathize. I'm trying to get used to Pepper talkin' to Lachlan instead of me.

Got to give props to Becky for bringing me a sandwich this afternoon whilst they were out, nothing against the hospital food but it's nice to have real food not from here. Also there's Darcy and Aaron who my dogs owe their lives to this week as they, more specifically Darcy, have been stopping by the house and making sure the furry kids are toileted and fed couple times a day and a few more for breaks. It's truly amazing the great friends that we have here.

Thanks to everyone who has come to visit and who hasn't come to visit, we've been a little overwhelmed the past couple of days, not that we're complaining because it's been great to see the show of support, I just didn't think having a kid would make me this tired and I'm not the one who had the kid! Imagine how Pep feels.

So Peps parents are showing up tomorrow afternoon shortly after we get home. Should be nice to spend some time with them. It will be really nice to get home to my own bed, my dogs, and away from the non-stop TV that ends up being the only entertainment when the kid is asleep. At least the weather has been nice, though I've heard a rumor that snow is coming this weekend, I really hope not, been a nice fall with all of the colors that are around.

What else can I tell you about as I'm just rambling right now. Oh yea, I changed the first diaper that he had and wow, I didn't think that stuff could get all over like it did. That stuff sticks to everything, reminds me of GI Bleed though he's not shooting it onto the walls of the room. I didn't get any on the hands though it did get onto the bed sheets but being the great nurse I am I changed the linens all by myself.

For those of you who were wondering about the Goatee, yes, it has been trimmed. Notice I said trimmed not cut off as unless I'm gonna get some crazy church calling it won't be coming off. I did end up getting a couple of razors from one of the recovery nurses before Pepper got into the room after the c-section. Pretty funny, I think a lot of people just wanted to see that come off or at least get a little bit trimmed. The nice thing about this trip to the hospital is that I'll be going home close to when I would be finishing my work week anyway so aside from a bunch more hours here it's all about the same.

Hope you enjoy the photos I've included as they are the most recent or so. Have a great day and I'll catch you later.
