“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

A family of 3

G'day to everyone from the hospital still. We are hanging out one more night to try and get the most out of our hospital experience, not like I'm not here enough anyway! So it's been a pretty good couple of days, getting used to having a little kid that I have to be responsible for is going to be a little bit of a change for me. Not just taking care of Pepper, who takes care of herself mostly, or the fly rods which just need to be used on a frequent basis! Now something besides the two dogs that eats, sleeps, poops, cries regularly and can't tell you what's going on with him. Lachlan seems to be doing very well, still getting used to the feeding part of life but hey that just takes practice right? He got circumcised today, yes I went to watch. Wasn't too bad, nice of the doc to numb him up right before the procedure so that was the majority of the pain, well until it wore off. It's thrown off his rhythm quite a bit. He was feeding pretty well before the snip job but has been a little bit off since then, justifiably so wouldn't you think? well at least the guys would sympathize. I'm trying to get used to Pepper talkin' to Lachlan instead of me.

Got to give props to Becky for bringing me a sandwich this afternoon whilst they were out, nothing against the hospital food but it's nice to have real food not from here. Also there's Darcy and Aaron who my dogs owe their lives to this week as they, more specifically Darcy, have been stopping by the house and making sure the furry kids are toileted and fed couple times a day and a few more for breaks. It's truly amazing the great friends that we have here.

Thanks to everyone who has come to visit and who hasn't come to visit, we've been a little overwhelmed the past couple of days, not that we're complaining because it's been great to see the show of support, I just didn't think having a kid would make me this tired and I'm not the one who had the kid! Imagine how Pep feels.

So Peps parents are showing up tomorrow afternoon shortly after we get home. Should be nice to spend some time with them. It will be really nice to get home to my own bed, my dogs, and away from the non-stop TV that ends up being the only entertainment when the kid is asleep. At least the weather has been nice, though I've heard a rumor that snow is coming this weekend, I really hope not, been a nice fall with all of the colors that are around.

What else can I tell you about as I'm just rambling right now. Oh yea, I changed the first diaper that he had and wow, I didn't think that stuff could get all over like it did. That stuff sticks to everything, reminds me of GI Bleed though he's not shooting it onto the walls of the room. I didn't get any on the hands though it did get onto the bed sheets but being the great nurse I am I changed the linens all by myself.

For those of you who were wondering about the Goatee, yes, it has been trimmed. Notice I said trimmed not cut off as unless I'm gonna get some crazy church calling it won't be coming off. I did end up getting a couple of razors from one of the recovery nurses before Pepper got into the room after the c-section. Pretty funny, I think a lot of people just wanted to see that come off or at least get a little bit trimmed. The nice thing about this trip to the hospital is that I'll be going home close to when I would be finishing my work week anyway so aside from a bunch more hours here it's all about the same.

Hope you enjoy the photos I've included as they are the most recent or so. Have a great day and I'll catch you later.

I can not believe that I didn't even notice the lack of hair hanging off your face. Shayne it seriously looks so much better. When I finally feel like we are done with germs in our house I am going to hold lach and not let go of him. He is so beautiful or should I say handsome. You guys get some sleep. Pep do you need done at your house before you go home? Let us know.

Good Luck! With mom and dad around take it easy and have mom help cook and clean. Don't get overwhelmed all at once and make sure Peps takes it real easy with the c-section!!!

Congratulations! In 6 months, I'd love to hold him! I had a couple other things happen on the 29th so I remembered your c-section date and was anxious for you all that day. Congratulations. What a blessing. Babies are so precious.

Hey Pepper

Congratulations! I so now how you feel. Marshal and I have waited 8 long years and just when you start thinking it isn't going to happen you are blown away when it does. Your little boy is so very cute, you make a cute little family. Last time I saw you in Malad you were thinking of PA school, how is that going? Anyways I ran into your sister at Pocatello family medicine and she said you were due, so I peeked at your blog to see if you had your baby yet. Good to hear the great news.

Peps--you are such a cool girl. I have enjoyed reading through your last few blogs and seeing your prego pics. It is good to hear positive things about pregnancy when I hear so much bad. It makes me much more excited for what is ahead of me. I love your guts. Congratulations to you both and best of luck in the sleepless nights to come.
