“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Meanwhile...

While Lachlan and I were in Idaho, Shayne went fishing with his buddy Jared (who's wife Kaye was also gone seeing family) on the Kasilof River. Yup...he caught a King Salmon on the fly. It wasn't the largest King in the whole world(see the post from last year about the King I caught dipnetting...they were about the same size...at least I think so, Shayne says his was bigger...whatever!), but it was a King none-the-less. He also caught 2 steelhead and a dolly that day as well. Jared caught a steelhead as well. A good day on the river. Good to see he wasn't missing us too much! :)

Tautphas Park

On Saturday the 30th, Jonette, KayCee, PresLee, Lachlan and I visited Tautphas Park Zoo in Idaho Falls. It was a beautiful day...which means Lachlan and I were DYING of heat! Lachlan LOVED LOVED LOVED the goats in the petting zoo. After that, he kinda fell asleep. But he woke up for the Lemur exhibit, and was enthralled watching those things leap around and pound on the glass. It was fun to take both the babies to the zoo for the first time.

Mine...Mine...Mine

On Friday, May 29th, Lachlan and I went over to spend the day with Auntie KayCee and cousin PresLee. It was so much fun! PresLee is exactly 2 weeks older than Lachlan, but is way ahead when it comes to mobility! She was "scooting" and "inch-worming" all over the place! Lachlan just laid there like a bump on a log. So sad. :) They started playing with this rattle and it went back and forth a couple of times...each of them taking it from the other. The pics pretty much tell the story. It was so fun to play with PresLee...she's a little chunk with a sweet little smile. Can't wait to get back down there and play with her again!!

Pickin' Grass

These were taken on Grandma Pond's newly mowed front lawn. It was a gorgeous night...and the smell of fresh cut grass was divine!! Lachlan loves to pick grass. Put him down on the lawn and he starts picking. This was funny b/c he was picking already mowed grass. He couldn't figure out why he was getting such huge clumps of grass. He got a new bucket with sand toys to put stuff in. He thinks it's pretty "trick"...ya he told me that! :)

Notice the shorts again...this was actually the same day as our walk around the falls. Such a gorgeous day!!

Duck...Duck...Goose!!

On May 26th, Lachlan and I flew into Idaho Falls to spend about 2 1/2 weeks visiting family. The first week was spent in Ririe with Shayne's family. The weather was gorgeous! Lachlan actually got wear shorts...how exciting for us!

On Thursday the 28th, Jonette and I decided to go into town and walk the greenbelt around the Falls and in front of the IF Temple. They have a bunch of ducks and geese you can feed bread to. Lachlan thought it was pretty hilarious when the geese were honking as they were eating bread. He kept giggling as they would honk. However, he fell asleep for the rest of the walk.

It was so nice to get a little sun. I did get a little burned...and Tayler called me an Oompah-Loompah!! Good thing I was sore from being sunburned or I would have taken her down!! :)

Don't worry...I had Lachlan all good and lotioned up with chemical free sunscreen (Badger spf 30 Sunscreen), and he had his hat on...no sunburns for him. (Except two tiny little spots on his feet where he had holes in his sandals...we're not used to wearing sandals...forgot I needed to sunscreen his feet too! Whoops.)

Shayne's B-Ball Boys

These are a couple of pics of some of Shayne's boys he coaches in basketball. This was Marcus, Matt S., and Matt M.'s graduation from Skyview. Shayne loves the boys he coaches. He is such a good example for them. While it's hard for me during the winter when we're in the midst of basketball season, when I see Shayne interacting with these boys, and I see how much they respect and admire him...it makes it a little easier for me knowing the reason I'm not seeing Shayne so much is because he's working with boys like this.

C is for Cookie...

So, I got Lachlan his first teething cookies about a month ago. I was so excited for him to try them, I opened them up and gave him one while in his carseat. As I look back now, I realize that wasn't the smartest decision I've ever made. :) Not only was it dumb, b/c what if he choked on the thing???...but it was also a SMIDGE messy. But...all is well, and he LOVED them! I took the pics from the front seat so it's a funny angle. Don't worry...we weren't driving when I took them! :) And even if I did...Shayne was driving so it's all good. :) :)

FYI...

FYI for all you newer moms out there...
In case you hadn't heard, in April of this year the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) is now recommending leaving your child in a rear facing car seat until the age of two. Here's the link to the article:
http://aapnews.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/30/4/12-a?eaf
I found this information on one of my favorite websites: www.safemama.com I LOVE this website.

Also something new I learned...Sweden leaves their children in rear facing car seats until 4-5 years old! However, their car crash mortality rate for children is almost 0%! Seriously...like 2 kids killed last year in car accidents. Interesting huh?

8 Months!!

So...I'm back. I went to Idaho to visit for about 2 1/2 weeks, but I was trying to keep a secret from my family so I couldn't say anything about it here. Anywho...before we left, I took Lachlan's 8 month pic. It was a couple of days early, but I knew we would be in Idaho on the 29th of May.

He is the sweetest little boy. We absolutely love him to death. As of 8 month mark he:
~had absolutely NO sign of any teeth...at all.
~was starting to let go from the standing position and just standing by himself.
~still refusing to roll from his back to belly. Hates...hates...hates...his belly. Whatta ya gonna do?
~starting to jabber... a lot!
~eats HUGE amounts of solid food. Seriously...hollow leg here.

I'll start catching up...hopefully getting a post in at least every day. I have a lot to catch up on...to say the least. I'll be posting Lach's 9 months pics next week...man I am behind!

Happy First Father's Day!!

HAPPY FIRST FATHER'S DAY...SHAYNE!!!

Shayne is such an incredible dad to Lachlan. I can't even begin to describe what a good daddy he is. He absolutely LOVES his little boy! And you can see how much his little boy loves him as well. Shayne is also a great "father-figure" to some of the basketball boys he coaches. The last pic is him with one of those boys at his graduation. I'm so glad I'm married to such a great man and father.

I'm also grateful we both have such incredible father's ourselves. The pic with my dad on the 4-wheeler is with Lachlan, and my sister, Maysi's, four boys. Yup...5 little grandsons riding the 4-wheeler with grandpa...they loved it!! The other is of Shayne's dad with Lachlan in Homer. He actually flew back to Alaska with me about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and he was such a lifesaver. Both grandpa's love their little grandson...and he loves them as well.

How blessed am I to have so many great "dads" in my life?!
