“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Bae ball - June 12th

Shayne's first love is baseball. I think he's loved it since before he can remember...seriously. I think this love of baseball must be inherited. The Bug first started saying, "Bae ball" shortly after the season started when we were watching it on television every afternoon. He instantly recognizes it on the tv. He will actually sit on dad's lap and just watch it for 15-30 minutes.

He discovered a baseball and mitt at a bbq we attended the middle of May. So, I got out an old mitt Shayne had with a baseball. This kid LOVES to play catch! And of course, Shayne couldn't stop there...we went and got him a baseball tee, a soft spongy baseball, and a little spongy covered bat. Now The Bug says, "Bae ball" (with an occasional 's' in there too), "mi", and "ba", whenever we are outside playing. He's fine playing with mom, but if dad's outside...he's the preferred baseball player. He will take the mitt from my hand and walk over to dad and give it to him to play as soon as dad walks outside. It won't be long before dad gets him his own mitt so he can try and catch too.

These pics are from the first day we brought home the bat and tee. One of his favorite things to do is pitch to dad. He started to want to be pitched to the last week of June, but he's not so good at swinging at the pitch yet. I'm sure it won't be long in coming.

And...of course...Shayne has him switch-hitting...with an emphasis on swinging left.

Pitching to dad. The best part is he goes and gets the ball after dad hits it. :)

Swinging lefty off the tee with dad.

And he retrieves the balls he's hit too.

Dad had to fix his hat...kinda hard to hit the ball when you can't see it!

Much better!

Figuring out how to put the ball on the tee by himself. He was loving this...did it over and over and over again.

Of course he eventually wanted to hit the ball by himself. Not too bad for a 20 month old's first try.

I love this pic. It shows the pure joy he's getting from his baseball and bat. Melts my heart and makes me smile.
