“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Rock Fish on the Fly

I love this photo as Jess and Shayne were leaving the Homer harbor/docks.

Jess's Black Rockfish/Black Bass on the fly

Shayne has been wanting forever, to try and catch some rockfish on the fly...so for his birthday he went and tried.

He called Jess, a nurse/coworker in the ER, who has a boat, if he was game to try and he was definitely game.  It's not easy to catch rockfish on the fly, b/c they live on the bottom and don't come to the top, so you have to work a little harder to get them to eat your fly.  They do like shiny colorful flies, so Shordy and I picked out some good flies at Sportsman's for dad to try on his fishing trip.

Shayne didn't catch anything, but Jess caught one...hence the pic above.  However, Shayne learned lots and knows better what to try next time.  But, even though he didn't catch anything, he had such a good time...and I'm glad!  He definitely needed a good fishing trip...and there's nothing like being out on the ocean.
