“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Readin' w/ Dad

I caught her sucking on her fingers...it's not always those ones...she's not partial she likes to suck on all her fingers.  :)

I love catching dad reading with his kids.  Even if it's not a kids book he's reading to them...just having them see him reading is a good thing.

I also just like seeing dad spending time w/ his little girl.

Makes my heart smile.

Suz

Suz was my roommate for 2 years while I lived in St. George.  Kaye, Suz, and I were all very good friends in St. George.  Then I moved and got married and moved to Alaska, hooked Kaye up w/ Shayne's best friend and she got married and moved to Alaska, and then this past summer Suz came up to Alaska to work at a lodge.

Anyway, while I was in Anchorage she came and stayed at Kaye's and we all caught up.  She helped Kaye out who is pregnant w/ twins, watch kids while I was at the conference.  The kids LOVED her!

It was so nice to spend some time with her, I haven't seen her in 7 years.  I missed our talks.  She's a good friend.  She's also leaving Alaska this fall and I hope she can come back and visit...I wish I had been able to spend more time catching up.

So glad she came to Alaska.  So glad she came to help out Kaye too...I'm pretty sure she was a prayer answered.  :)

Come back and visit Suz!!

Sleepin' in the Swing

So, I took the first pics when she was so dang cute smiling at me.  Then I went and did my dishes and some other project I had.  She was so quiet I came back to see how she was doing and I found her sound asleep. I had to take some more pics b/c of how her nose is smashed on the orange plastic ring she was playing with.

How dang cute is that little girl?!

Imagination Library...and Hugs

Bug decided he wanted to give Sweet Pea a hug after I had changed her diaper...and she loved it.  I loved how she hugged him back.  Such cute little kids!

She loves her big brother...and he is very protective of his baby sister.

So, I THINK that Copper is on the left and Maggie is on the right.  But I'm not sure b/c Copper used to be lots chubbier than Maggie but Maggie's been catching up.  I need to see the swirl on the backs of their heads for me to be sure.

Ok...maybe it's Maggie on the left b/c she has a broader forehead b/c she was born via c-section and Copper's forehead is a little narrower b/c she was born vaginally.  So...really I can't remember which one is which.  Who cares...they're both so dang cute!!

Kim w/ her girls.  She can tell them apart...good thing huh?

Good thing there weren't any women having babies huh?  Seeing how we let our boys run wild all through OB...ok not wild but at least up and down the hall.  :)

Doesn't she look so proud of her 15.7lbs?  I love that silly smile!

So, I'm the co-chairman of our local Dolly Parton Imagination Library.  It's a non-profit organization that provides a free book every month to every child signed up in our specific local zip codes from 0-5 years old.   (Go to usa.imaginationlibrary.com for more information)  Anyway, we had our Alaska Imagination Library conference in Anchorage and I needed a poster highlighting what our local Imagination Library had been up to the past year.  So...I decided to take some pics of some of the babies we'd signed up at our hospital.

So, I recruited one of Shayne's co-worker and our friends Anderson and Kim Fannon and their adorable kids...Agent and their identical twins girls, Copper & Maggie to take pics of with the Imagination Library books they had received and took them at the hospital.

While we were there I took some pics of the twins b/c they were so adorable in their little outfits.  They were born in February but they are tiny...Sweet Pea is 3 months younger but weighed almost as much as them at this point.  We know b/c we decided to weigh them.

Anyway...it was fun taking pics of such cute kids.  Thanks Kim for indulging me!

First Snow...in Cooper Landing

Yes.

Yes, that is snow on the mountains...and it's only October 3rd!!

We were driving to Anchorage b/c Shayne had to do some orientation at Providence Hospital ICU for his Advanced Med Surg Class.

On our way we saw this.

I took these pics just past Cooper Landing.

Then we saw the swans at Tern Lake where the Seward Highway and Sterling Highway meet.  We get swans there and at bunch of other places throughout the drive to Anchorage in the fall.

Anyway...I cried just a little bit when I saw the snow.

I.
Am.

Our Big Date - Fishin' for Silvers

This is by FAR the largest Rainbow I've ever caught.  I only wish it had been on the fly...and not with the huge bit of bling in his eye.  But still...that's a freakin' huge rainbow!

Shayne purchased this fishing charger at a benefit auction for one of the ER nurses who's cabin burnt down this past summer.  The guide is the guide Shayne first went out with when his dad brought him up here for the first time.  Steve McClure, and he does a great job.

So, Shayne & I went out for Silvers.  Jeannette Pugh watch the kids, and even took on Sweet Pea who has never really taken a bottle.  Thank you to her!

It was a nice big date for Shayne & I.  We haven't done much by ourselves in awhile...that happens when you have a nursing baby.

This was an awesome day.  I caught my limit of Silvers before Shayne did...yeah for me.  And...I caught a HUGE Rainbow.  I think it was 28"-29", but unfortunately had a big old piece of bling in his eye.  He was seriously so big that we thought it was a Silver when it first came out of the water...but then I immediately notice that he has a little more color than a Silver does.  I was pretty amazed...and I accidentally dropped him on the boat when Steve was handing him to me to take a pic.  Whoops.  :)  So wish I could catch that fish on the fly!!!

Anyway...this was a very nice day.  It was nice for Shayne & I to spend some time together.  Thanks so much to Jeannette who took on a 4 month old baby, who didn't end up taking a bottle and was a hungry little monster when I got home.  It was very much appreciated!!
