“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Daddy's Birthday!

Stace, Aaron, and Shayne coming back in after Darcy tried unsuccessfully to dump them...She tried really really hard to though. :)

Watching a float plane land on the lake

Yes...we do float tube/water ski/wakeboard in Alaska...you just wear wet suits all the time. :)
Shayne had just gotten back...they went out forever and none of the 3 guys on the tube came off, though Darcy tried. He's shaking his hands b/c they were so tired/cramping from holding on tight for so long.

Going for a ride w/ dad on the wave runner. He loved it!

Sweet Pea smiling at the Swanson and Hansen girls...and Logan too. :)

Haylee Swanson made Shayne two b-day cakes...they were yummy! Then Darcy and Brady lit up the candles...we were trying not to set off the fire alarm! :) Ha-ha!!

Blowin' out the candles w/ Dad.

So, for Shayne's b-day I "surprised" him with a fishing outing with Aaron Swanson and good friend of ours. Aaron was more than happy to take him to float the Upper River of the Kenai. He's always looking for a good reason to fish...sorta like Shayne. So, he got to fish for the first part of the day, then Aaron invited us over to their place for a B-day BBQ and float-tubing on the lake they live on.

It was a good day for Shayne. He got to fish. He was able to come home and hang-out with his family for a bit, and then got to go tubing with "The Guys".

I took the kids shopping for some b-day stuff for dad. The Bug picked out the funniest card...it was a talking card and he thought it was great. He kept walking all over the store (Beamun's) telling people the card was for his dad. He also picked out a present for him as well...a basketball and hoop to hang on a door. Shocking I know. :)

I also got him a couple of good fishing books for reading, a Kindle (I was tired of him stealing mine), and a massive book on Tarpon fishing (he's been asking for it for awhile now). Can you tell he likes to read...and fish?

Anyway...I hope he had a good birthday. We are so lucky to have a daddy like him!! He's the best!
