My beautiful Alaskan quilt Shayne had made for me for Mother's Day |
I have been so blessed to be a Mother that I can't not talk about how grateful I am to be able to take part in this amazing calling of Mother.
We are so lucky and blessed to have the two wonderful children that we do have. They are miracles in so many ways and we are and will be forever grateful for them in our lives. We definitely don't take them for granted.
I love being a mother...I love it! There is nothing so fulfilling, so rewarding, and so hard as being a Mother...I love it!
This year Shayne surprised me with a quilt he had made by one of our good friends, and ER Nurse who works with Shayne, Jeanette Pugh. She is a wonderful quilter and has her own long-arm machine to do the quilting and did a great job on this quilt. Shayne gave her an idea of what he wanted, but while I was in Idaho she took him to a fabric shop and had him pick out the exact fabric that he wanted to use, so this really is all Shayne. He picked it all out...it was pretty impressive. He picked a main fabric that had a bunch of Alaskan activities and scenes here so that I will always remember Alaska. Then he picked out the other fabrics to go with it...he specifically picked the pink for me, b/c even though I like to get outside and play and get dirty, I still like to be feminine and frequently wear pink caps and jackets and shirts. The back and binding are in a blue/turquoise/black fabric with an Alaskan Native motif of Orca Whales, Halibut, and Salmon. Then Shayne had a little note put on the bottom right-hand corner that said: "To My Best Friend. Love You Heaps Forever and a Week. Happy Mum's Day 2012. Shayne"
It's a beautiful quilt and I love it! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family!
I am so blessed!!
