One of The Bug's favorite things are quartered grapes in his own little cup. He loves them! I think he mostly likes the independence he gets by having his own cup. The trade-off for me is that he often spills them on the floor, proceeds to pick them up and eat them, despite the dog hair they now have on them. I keep telling myself, "It's better than the cow crap my nephew ate!" Then I feel better. :)
The other pics are of Shayne raking the lawn...yes these pics are from the end of October, but better late posting then never right?! We have a huge lawn, with lots of leaves. Shayne does a great job of taking care of the yard. The Bug and I went out for a bit as well. This pic of The Bug is him "squealing" at me to help him off the deck. Don't you just love the face?!
I don't have a demanding first-born (used to be)red-headed child do I?!

I Love Broccoli...sort of.
My Next 3 Months
Do you know where I'll be for the next three months? Yup...in the gym watching Shayne and the boys Bball team he coaches at Skyview. These pics were actually taken at one of the girls' volleyball games this fall. Jaxon Hill (pictured below) is one of my Laurel's in our ward. Great girl!
The Bug had fun hanging out on the bleachers. I didn't have so much fun...he was always on the verge of falling off the bleacher. Good thing Shayne was there. Not sure what I'm gonna do come basketball when he's not there. Oh yeah...I have lots of boys' mom's who LOVE to help out with him. Yeah for me!!!

And so it begins...

Yup...The Bug loves his basketball hoop he got for his birthday. In fact, he tosses anything he can through the hoop. He and dad have lots of fun playing. Shayne shoots the baskets, The Bug rebounds and throws it back out to dad for another shot. Unless course, he's going for a one-handed dunk himself. And so it has begun...

I just loved these two bottom shots. The first is pre-hair cut. The bottom is post-hair cut, with a mouthful of supper. It's amazing how different he looks to me. But...still my baby boy.

After
Enough of the serious, slightly depressing stuff. :)
On October 15th, we decided it was finally time to cute The Bug's hair. He was born with beautiful red hair, it fell out, and more beautiful red hair grew back. I was sure he was going to be a strawberry red-haired little boy. Alas, I was wrong. Blonde hair started growing in under his red in the late summer. I desperately did not want to cut off those beautiful red-tips, and I waited as long as I could. The poor kid had these wispy red strands of hair nearly in his eyes. I also knew that as soon as we cut it, he would no longer be our baby, but a little boy. And it was true!
We cut it by using a #8 guard on a pair of clippers. We had let him watch dad cut his own hair with the clippers a few time, so he wouldn't be too freaked out about it. As a result, he did really well. Other than being a typical wiggly 12 month old, he didn't complain at all. By the time we were done, all his red hair lay in a pile on the bathroom floor. (Don't worry, I saved the pile of red hair.) I was so sad. He was also completely transformed. He looks like a little boy now...a blonde little boy. But, he's still the cutest little boy we've ever seen.

Thanksgiving 2009

We had Thanksgiving dinner at Dan & Jeanette Pugh's again this year. Jeanette works with Shayne as a nurse in the ER. Seeing how Shayne worked Wednesday night, they graciously had a late dinner, b/c they understand the whole "working at night" thing. :)
They also invite those who don't have family or anywhere else to go...they are here from Pennsylvania and have no extended family as well. So this year Mandy (their 2nd daughter), invited one of the older ladies who is wheel chair bound from the Nursing Home where she works as a CNA. She was a sweet lady and I think loved being around "family". I thought it was pretty awesome Mandy went to all the trouble to bring her to her parents home. It was a such a good experience.
Here are a few other reason's, other than the obvious, why we accepted this invitation:
One: Dan was a chef in his other life...and puts on a GREAT Thanksgiving dinner. He does have help from his girl's and wife. But seriously?! Who would turned down a Thanksgiving dinner from a chef?!
Two: They LOVE The Bug.
Three: They have the craziest dog/lab Chloe who also loves The Bug...and The Bug loves her.
Four: I didn't have to cook.
Five: They are such a great family...and great company.
Six: I didn't have to cook.
So...we accepted and had another great time with the Pugh's.
Chloe entertained us all with her crazy antics.
The food was incredible.
The company was awesome.
It was a good day.
p.s. Don't ask why, but I didn't take a single picture of the incredible dinner! I was slightly distracted by an adorable Bug...as was Jess who is helping him throw the ball to Chloe.

New Moon
Yup...I did it. I went with a group of women to New Moon. We went on Saturday November 21st, so it wasn't as bad as opening night...right?!
Darcy, Becky, Angela, and I all met up at the theater to get good seats. Let me clarify...I got there an hour early to wait in line for a good seat. And good seats we got...I was second in line. I must admit it was completely entertaining watching all the many girls and women who were also in line.
I also must admit I just laughed throughout the movie. Yes, it was good...not as good as the books, but...so cheesy. And, I could NOT believe I was one of "those" women who actually waited in line to get a seat and was there watching the movie. So, I just laughed...mostly at myself.
The pic with myself included needs some explaining. The reason you can see my wisdom teeth in the massive smile I've put on my face is this: At the point we wanted to get the pic, there was only a couple of prepubescent girls sitting in front of us. So, I asked one of them to take the pic. She could not figure out how to push the button down half-way to focus and then push it the rest of the way to take the pic. She had tried 2-3 times before she finally got this pic. I was just getting ready to take the camera from her and show her how to take it when all of the sudden the camera went off. I was laughing b/c of the whole situation. So...not the best pic of me...but the other girls looked great!
So...while I never thought I would have been in line opening weekend to watch this...it was good company and b/c of that, it was a good time.
We should do another girls-night-out soon!!
