“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Wanna Go Hike!!

The lake at the end of the trail on our little hike. Dad is wearing Sweet Pea in the Baby Bjorn...love that thing.

As always, The Bug MUST throw rocks into the river

And here's Sweet Pea...chillin' in the car seat by the Kenai River

Shayne had a couple of days off after his parents left, so we took advantage of them and did some family activities. One day we went to the Kenai Wildlife Refuge to do a small hike to a lake there. It's only about 3-4 miles from our house. The Bug wasn't convinced we were doing something fun until I asked him if he wanted to go on a hike. He promptly yelled, "Yes!! I wanna hike mom!"

So we went and the entire time we were walking around the trail her was constantly saying, "Mom, I wanna go hike! I wanna go hike mom." Or..."Dad, I wanna go hike. I wanna go hike dad." We tried and tried to explain to him that we were hiking. That walking around on the trail was a hike, but his little 2 year old brain couldn't quite grasp that concept.

The next day he asked to go on a hike again. So, we grabbed the dogs, and went to the Kenai River in town. There's a great boardwalk. But, that wasn't enough of a hike. So we drove down Swanson River Road and found a trail head. While I was feeding Sweet Pea, The Bug and his dad and the dogs went for a short "hike".

It was nice just hanging out as a family going on our small hikes.

I only hope The Bug likes hiking this much as he gets older.
