“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Easter Cookies and Easter Eggs

My Shordy decorating Easter cookies

Mom's Easter Bunny

Hey Dad!  Would you like some cookie to go with your frosting and decorations?  Love, Shordy

Coloring Easter Eggs...sans Tiny who was sleeping.  No way was I doing this while she was awake!

Tiny's dress and homemade hairbows.

The basket I made for her last year, but she didn't get to use because she was sick with Roseola.

Shordy's basket...I'm still pretty proud of them, even a year later.

I love Easter!

I love it b/c it's the sign that winter is ending and spring is beginning...at least in Alaska.  In other parts of the country spring has arrived and winter is long gone.  Not here.  But I digress...

I love it b/c of the religious implications...I love celebrating the resurrection of our Savior and being able to focus and think and teach my children about Jesus and what He did for them.

I love all the fun activities you get to do with your kids...namely decorating Easter cookies and eggs.

Last year wasn't so fun b/c our little Tiny girl was sick with a very high fever, which turned out to be Roseola and was pretty miserable for about 3-4 days before Easter.  He fever finally broke on Easter Sunday while Dad and Shordy were at church, and she broke out in the traditional rash shorty after it broke.  Anyway...

This year was fun b/c Tiny was healthy and Shordy remembered doing it last year and was so excited to do it again.  He did a great job coloring eggs.

His decorating cookies job was hilarious.  I neglected to realize I was short on powdered sugar so the frosting was a little more runny that would be ideal for decorating cookies, but who cares when you're four?!  I totally just let him do his deal, and the results were pretty impressive.  He's still definitely in the mindset that "More is Better".

The cookie he made for his Dad was hilarious!  But, Dad was a good sport and ate it...despite the PILES of M&M's, Jelly Beans, and other candy atop it.

The Easter Bunny came and hid eggs that night and set out their new Easter outfits and fun little toys.

But, even though I love all the fun things Easter brings...

I truly am so grateful for this holiday to celebrate my Savior.  To remember what He did for me in Gethsemane and on the Cross...and for His Resurrection which all means I can live again with my Heavenly Father with my family for eternity.

What could be better than that?
