Guess who only lived about 15 minutes from the hotel we were staying at?! My old mission companion, Laura Madsen! Ya...how crazy is that? I remembered she had moved to Florida while we were waiting to check into our hotel and contacted her and found out she was REALLY close! I was so excited! So, I had someone to pal around with while Shayne was at his conference. The first full day of his conference I also hung out with Jean Molitor whom Shayne worked with in Anchorage and was also at this conference but in a different capacity so didn't need to be there on Friday. Anyway...Jean, Laura, and I all jumped on the water taxi and toured Ft. Lauderdale. Ft. Lauderdale is full of canals and really is like the Venice of America. The best way to get around the city to see the cool old stuff is by water taxi. We rode it to the end and had lunch and then came back. It was so fun!
I'm so glad I remembered Laura lived there and was able to see and hang out with her. She was one of my favorite comps...in fact I lived with her for a summer after we got back. It was fun to catch up and just spend time together.
