That's an Understatement...

Notice the sign Dana's staring at before he hikes to the Russian River Falls? "Fishing in Bear Country"...that's an understatement on the Russian...refer to a previous post about "Russian River Blackies". This was another day Shayne took our guests to fish on the Russian River. However, he wanted them to see a different part of the river so he took them up to the Russian River Falls. It's only about a 3 mile hike, and not difficult at all. You can't fish right at the falls, they've provided a sanctuary for the Salmon, so they had to hike down a bit before they could fish. When the Salmon get to a certain point up the river, that's marked by a sign for fishermen, they are safe from all the craziness that is the Russian River in June.

The pic just below is of a pile of Red/Sockeye Salmon in the river. Can you see them? One fish has a bright orange fly in his back. This doesn't even compare to how stacked up they get before swimming up the falls. It's pretty cool to see...I ain't gonna lie. The other pics are from the lookout at the Falls. If they didn't get up at 4:30 every morning to go fish, I would have gone. Put Lachlan in the backpack and away we would have went. But seriously? 4:30?! My father-in-law is CRAZY!! He knows I think so too! :) I tell him he's only allowed to come up once a year and fish like this. When/If he comes back in the fall, he's not allowed to get up that early. He justs laughs at me...but I'm serious. :)
