“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Perspective

So, I've picked up this book a few times in the book store and contemplated reading in the last couple of years, but never actually purchased it. Well, after finally seeing the movie (I wouldn't watch it before now b/c I knew it was sad) I decided to actually read it to see if the movie followed the book accurately.

I must say it does...except I cried WAY more in the book than in the movie.

Probably b/c Shayne wasn't around when I finished it.

I seriously sat on the stairs of my house in the sunshine for over an hour while The Bug was sleeping and finished it last week. I sat in the sunshine and just cried.

Let me just say when Shayne woke up (he'd worked the night before) I gave him the biggest hug and kiss and was so grateful I get to have him in my life forever...not just until he dies.

Funny how a dumb book can make me so grateful for the knowledge I have of eternal families.

p.s. Warning: If you do read this book, the language is fairly questionable, aka: R rated. And...you will cry.
