“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Alaska Sea Life Center

Shayne with Tyler, Malia, and Shordy checkin' out the Sea Lions

Shayne had a basketball tournament in Seward the first weekend of February, so we decided to get a room and go hang out with him.  Kaye & Jared decided to join us, b/c they needed to get out of town.  Kaye was feeling a little cabin fever having just had the twin boys 2 1/2 months earlier.  :)

So, we stayed at the Holiday Inn, which had a pool and a nice continental breakfast.  While I still spent enough time on my own while Shayne was at games, it was fun to get out of the house and do something different.  On Friday, Shayne's games weren't until later that night, so we all decided to go to the Alaska Sea Life Center, there in Seward.  Jared had a co-worker who was able to get us free tickets, so that was a definite added bonus!

The kids loved it!  We had taken Shordy there last April and he loved the touch pools, but would have nothing to do with them this time...kinda sad.  But, they all loved watching the  fish, birds, seals, otters, and sea lions.  Besides it got us out of the hotel and doing something other than sitting at home.  :)

As a side note, we got a lot of snow this weekend...a lot.  In fact, there was an avalanche that covered the road on the way to Seward.  We had to wait for about 45 minutes to get the road cleared, but the bus with all the kids had to wait like 3 hours!  Even when we finally go through it was just one lane so we had to wait for a pilot car.  All the games that night had to be pushed back, b/c Skyview's girls team was late b/c of the avalanche.  But...there's always avalanches in this vicinity of road in the winter, so it wasn't totally unexpected.
