“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Our Bug's Second Birthday!!

The Bug checkin' out his "big" Birthday present.  It was a t-ball stand that will also automatically shoot out baseballs to hit.  Right now he LOVES baseball, so was pretty dang excited about this present.

Blowin' out his candles on the baseball cupcakes we took over to the Williams'  to celebrate his birthday with.

Definitely not scared of the candles/smoke this year.  He loved blowing them out...wanted to do it again.

His big baseball birthday cake after blowing out his candle at home.  He devoured the frosting on those cupcakes.

So, for The Bug's Second Birthday we just stayed at home like last year.  I already had a ball cake form pan from the basketball cake I made him last year, so we decided because he loves baseball so much right now I'd make him a baseball.

I made my own marshmellow creme fondant for the outside of the cake...and that was an adventure all by itself.  Not sure I would do that again.  But I think it turned out pretty good.  I made some baseball cupcakes too that we took over to the Williams' so he could celebrate with George, Charlie(Charlotte), and John.  They are some of his bestest friends.

He got way too many presents...but it's hard to not spoil such a sweet little boy.  His big present was a t-ball and automatic pitching toy.  He thinks it AWESOME!!  Of course he already played with it with dad.

Last year he was absolutely terrified of the smoke from his candles, but this year he had no problem with it.  He loved blowing out his candles!

I took about a bajillion pics of everything we did on his birthday, but something happened when I attempted to upload them to our computer and these 5 or 6 pics are all I have left of his birthday.  I'm just glad I have a little bit of everything...I could have lost them all.

So we now have a 2 year old!  Craziness!!

Bring on the Terrible Two's!!

P.S.  I'm posting this in March 2012...I got a little behind.  But as a little note...this was the one of the first days I was REALLY sick with morning sickness.  No one knew we were pregnant yet (we announced it about 5 days later) and I was pretty dang miserable the entire day.  So, making my own fondant and his cake was a little more arduous than it probably would have been had I not felt like throwing up all day.  Even though I was sicker than a dog...this was a pretty good birthday for our family.  Our first miracle baby was turning Two...and our second was  just getting started.  What a miracle birthday...what a wonderful day.

Me being so sick with morning sickness contributed A LOT to my being so late in posting.  Then the later I got the easier it was to just not do it...but I decided I REALLY needed to get it done.  So, here I sit posting about The Bug's second Birthday, while a sweet little 10 month old little girl crawls around at my feet putting everything she can find in her mouth.  And I'm remembering the process of getting her and how I felt on The Bug's Second Birthday.  What sweet memories.

My Birthday Boy...the 33 year old one - July 9th

The trout Shayne caught while fishing with his dad.
His poor gill is all tore up...kinda weird.

My birthday boy.

Chowing down on a Big Judd's burger...yum!

Shayne hasn't spent his birthday around family in at least 10 years. He's always been Alaska for his birthday. So this year, when we decided to be down there around the 4th of July he wanted to spend his bday in Idaho as well...which was fine with me.

I'm pretty sure it's the best bday he's had in YEARS!!

He was able to go fishing with his dad, which is always a good thing. Then later that evening the WHOLE fam (minus Dallan who lives in Boise), all met up at Big Judd's. For anyone who's attended Ricks/BYU-Idaho, you know about Big Judd's. They have the BIGGEST burgers you've ever seen. They are the size of a dinner plate...not kidding. You get your meal for free if you can ingest an entire burger on your own. Shayne accomplished this feat in high school. Then promptly threw it all up when he went and played basketball afterwards. Yum.

Four burgers fed: Dana, Jonette, Shayne, me, The Bug, KayCee, Kendal, PresLee, Dustin, Erica, Dayna, Cameron, Lyndsey, and Jace. We showed up with balloons, party hats, and noise makers. It was so fun, b/c Shayne is normally so low key and doesn't usually get to be the center of attention.

After gorging on the massive, delicious burgers, we all headed back over to the house to have cheesecake. I make a cheesecake every year for him...it's his favorite. Cameron helped me make it this year. I wish I had remembered to refrigerate it after cooking it, b/c it was a little softer than normal...but it still tasted good. Oh well.

We had candles, 33 of those hummers all flaming away, and a complete chorus singing his "Happy Birthday" song. The Bug was loving the balloons and candles. It was so cute watching him blow out the candles with is dad.

Anyway...it was so fun to focus some attention on a man so deserving. I'm glad he got to spend it with all his family. He's such a great dad and amazing husband.

I love you!!!

Trampoline Casualty - July 9th

He had so much fun with Auntie Dayna, Lyndsey, and Jace...until mom came out to take pics. Sheesh!

Hangin' with Auntie Dayna and LOVING watching Lyndsey and Jace do tramp tricks.

He loved "Ring Around the Rosies"...especially the "all fall down" part.

His eyes look fevered to me here...the swollen/black left eye doesn't help.

Kisses from my Bug. I love them! So glad he likes to give them.

See his poor little "owie" on his left eye? Poor Bug.

Shayne's Aunt Dayna and her three kids/his cousins; Cameron, Lyndsey, & Jace, came to stay with Grammy Jo for a couple of weeks to escape the AZ summer.

We happened to be able to see them for a couple days just before we left.

One of the things the cousins liked to do was hang out on the trampoline in the back yard. The Bug soon decided he wanted to check it out.

At this point his idea of jumping consisted of just kind of bouncing up and down while his feet never left the ground. But...on the tramp he could actually catch a bit of air. He LOVED it! He also loved to run around the tramp, while Lyndsey and I were on it with him. One of those times he got a little close to the edge and slipped, fell, and hit one of the springs with his eye. He didn't hardly cry at all, but it looks pretty bad.

Just a note about tramps; We will never have a tramp at our house. Two reasons.

Reason #1: I spent a bunch of time in the hospital when I was younger for the plethora of surgeries I was undergoing. While there my mom noticed/discovered the number one reason kids were in the hospital for major broken bones and other injuries was from the trampoline. Ya, we never had one either.

Reason #2: Shayne is an ER nurse. What kind of injuries do you think he sees? Ya, injuries from trampolines. End result: No trampoline for us, which is fine with me, b/c I never had one anyway and survived without any major emotional damage. :) After The Bug's little black eye/trampoline mishap I'm even more ok not having one.

Anyway...Dayna took most of the pics while I played on the tramp with The Bug, Lyndsey and Jace. It was fun hanging out with them. We don't get to see them very often so we enjoyed the time we were able to spend with them.

As a little side note...The Bug started fevering this afternoon. I first noticed it while we were on the tramp. Little did I know how bad that fever was going to get. In fact, in a couple of the pics you can just see how his eyes looked a little fevered. Still gives me a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach when I see them, and think about what happened the next night when he had his febrile seizure. Yuck. So glad it's over and he's completely fine.

Just My Size...sorta - July 8th

Grammy Jo has a little antique looking tricycle in her dining room area. It's normally in a fairly obscure place and no one (aka: The Bug or PresLee) notices.

Not anymore.

The Bug found it, and promptly attempted to ride it.

He was just so excited to have found a tricycle that seemed to be just his size.

I think he may have broken it...who knows maybe PresLee found it earlier and did the initial damage.

Either way...good thing Grammy Jo loves her little grand babies. :)

Pool Party!! - July 7th

The Bug coming down the slide to Nana. Though it doesn't look like it, he LOVED it!! Wanted to go over and over and over again.

Zane coming down to Shancy
Of course he found the ball and had to hang onto it most of the time.
The Three Boys: The Bug, Zane, Holdan jumping into the pool
Ok...Zane and Holdan jumped (they are crazy little men), The Bug sorts just stepped off the edge to Nana...still a little chicken and not sure of the water.

"Ring Around the Rosies" with the little boys.

Ummm...I'm just a little bit happy to just be in the warm pool with the hot sun. Just a little bit.

No Pool Party is complete without an ice cream cone from The Malad Drive-In. Thank you Nana!!!

This was the last day we hung out at my parents place. Shancy came into town w/ her Zaner, so we all decided to take the boys to the Malad Pool. With Maysi and her four boys, Shancy and her mini-man, me and my Bug, and Nana, we nearly doubled the pool population. :) It's Malad...it's not a big pool.

Shayne had already had his allotment of sun for the day and opted to stay at the house and read/nap in the shade.

You may wonder why I would post so many pics of a pool party, but unless you've experienced an Alaskan summer (or winter), you will never understand. To have it be so hot outside you'd actually want to be in the water is pretty amazing. And to be able to stay in the water for such an extended amount of time without hypothermia setting in is even more mind boggling. The Bug was pretty clueless about the whole pool thing. Took him a bit to get used to the idea of just hanging out in the water...very foreign to this poor little Alaskan. :)

So...I have a lot of pics of all the boys having a blast in the water. It's also fun to have a waterproof camera to take funny pics of my nephews under the water.

I just wish I could have gotten a pic of Zane puking up his diluted strawberry milk after ingesting copious amounts of pool water...therefore clearing the pool of ALL the Price family. :)

Party Over! Ha!!!
