Did you know that the Kenai has Grayling? I didn't...but Shayne proved differently. I thought it was pretty cool. |

So, what do you do at the end of September in Alaska? When it's been such a nice September you got tubing on a friend's lake of course!! Of course, it's still Alaska, so you need to wear wet suits so you don't die of hypothermia. :)
Anyway, we celebrated Darcy Swanson's birthday by going over to their new house on a lake and then the guys (plus Becky Hansen) went tubing while Darcy drove the boat. The Bug spent most of the time playing in the sand with John Williams one of his little friends.
Shayne had to work that night so he and Aaron went out before everyone else, and then Shayne went to work while we had cake and the others went tubing. It's fun having friend who live on a lake and have a ski boat. We hope it's a nicer summer next year so we can do this more often.
Two days after going tubing, Aaron and Shayne went and floated the Upper Kenai and fished. Shayne caught just about every species of non-salmon fish you can catch in the Kenai. He caught a Rainbow Trout, a Grayling, and a Dolly Varden. I had no idea there were even Grayling in the Kenai, but Shayne caught one to prove there are. They are one of my favorite fish to fish for...they're cool looking.
I'm so glad we have had such a wonderful September to make up for the incredibly cold and rainy summer we had. Woo Hoo for the sunshine!!
