So...these are the pics of that crazy activity. Yes, some of the kids floated fully dressed. Yes, some of the kids floated in their wetsuits (the only way I would ever consider floating). Yes, some of the kids came out with blue lips b/c it was that cold and rainy.
They had a BBQ afterwards and were planning on doing some fun activities but you couldn't get the kids away from the 2 fires they had started for them...like you could blame them. :)
I did not float. I chaperoned (gawked at all the crazy kids) and Shayne watched The Bug while I was taking pics and Sweet Pea who was asleep (for most of the time anyway).
Overall, most of the kids had a really great time and I think the Homer ward has determined to do this again next year. Crazy!
This is Becky...she was one of only two leaders that actually floated. She's crazy like that. :) She's wearing the sunglasses to convince herself it was really warm and sunny. She's wearing the wetsuit to protect her from hypothermia. She seriously cracks me up!!
Yup...he's got his rocks. Just the right size for throwing in the river. We just had to make sure he didn't hit any kids!
Ummm...ya. That kid is fully clothed. He was NOT dry when he got out at the end of the float.
Sweet Pea with Ann, the YW Pres. She enjoyed the attention.
Take a wild guess what The Bug is doing here...
So that girl in blue in the center? Ya, her lips were blue.
Now, that was a serious tube! Gotta love the Swanson's...they know how to do it right in Alaska!
