“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Winter Flowers

There are a few things about winter I do love...the darkness NOT being one of them.

My Christmas Cactus in full bloom is.

Granted it was pretty much done blooming by Christmas, these photos were from November 21st, but they were still beautiful and very much enjoyed. You can also see my African Violet. It blooms later in the summer and it keeps it's blooms until almost Christmas. I love it. The nice thing is my Christmas Cactus will bloom again in March.

It's so impressive when it blooms, last year Shayne asked me when I got the new plant. I'd had it for 2 years at that point. It was so bright it actually got Shayne's attention...not the most attentive to things around the house is he?! He didn't make the same mistake this year...I gave him enough crap about it last year he made sure to pay attention. :)

Have I mentioned I love plants? I have like 13 of them in my house.

How do you keep your plants around and alive after having kids. I love plants too but I seem to forget to water them anymore. However your one plant you gave me is still alive and kicking. They are survivors! I had a christmas cactus and a African Lilac and neither one EVER bloomed EVER!!!! I was so good to them too! I think you gave me Lily didn't you? I have moved like 8 times in 5 years!! They don't seem to do well when you move them!! One plant I stopped watering for atleast a year, one day I looked at the dead plant planning to throw it away and it had started growing again on it's own. I thought well I have to keep this guy alive he is a fighter! I named him ROCKY!!
