“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Malia & The Bug...after the accident.

On Friday, Dec. 4th, Kaye and her little girl Malia were headed down to our house to put on a vinyl lettering party at Darcy's house the next day. On their way down, Kaye hit some ice and ended up rolling her truck side over side. They ended up right at on the side of the road, so they weren't hit by anyone else. It was more than a little scary for them. Kaye called me, and Shayne & I with The Bug drove to where they had wrecked (b/c we were closer to her than her husband) and brought Kaye, Malia, and their dog, Kona, back to our house. Kaye was 8 1/2 months pregnant and her Dr. was worried she could have had a placental abruption, so Shayne dropped Kaye & I off at the hospital. They hooked her up to a bunch of "stuff" to monitor the baby's heartbeat and fetal movements. We were there for about an hour, and everything was perfect. The baby was doing great! Her husband, Jared, and his dad showed up just before they released her. We all went back to our place and they ended up staying the night, and driving back the next day. It's pretty amazing that no one was seriously injured. Kaye was pretty sore for a few days, and Malia had a bruise on the side of her face where something in the truck hit her while they were rolling. But...other than that, they were completely fine. The truck ended up being totaled, which tells you how serious of an accident they really had. There were definitely angels watching out for Kaye & Malia.

These pics were of The Bug and Malia the morning after, before they left. These two are more like a brother and sister than just friends. They get along great...most of the time. :) They are both learning about sharing, that's for sure. I just loved the pic below, b/c it shows a little bit what they are like at times. The Bug is trying to take something from Malia, and she's not happy about it...like you couldn't tell from the funny face she has on. :)

We are so glad everything turned out ok, and that we can smile about that weekend now. It was all pretty scary for a bit.

But...miracles do exist. And...angels are real.
