“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”

Long Day @ the 4-H Horse Show

We planned on being in Malad during the Oneida County Fair...yes Fair Week!  And my sister Maysi's boys are in 4-H and would be competing in the 4-H horse show and then showing pigs as well...along with some chickens..but that's another post.

So, this particular day was the 4-H horse show...and they are long days.  I remember.  Maysi had a sun-shade set up which was nice for us to sit under, b/c it was HOT...though I wasn't complaining too much.  The kids were having a blast running around playing together.  I love the pic I got of Shordy, Braylee and Holdan playing under the bleachers.  My poor little Alaskan boy looks like he's gonna die of heat-stroke.  However, he continued to play and have a great time.

Maysi's boys, Maestin & Addler, did a great job...and it was fun to watch them compete and sit and visit with Maysi & Austin when they weren't watching and helping their boys to compete.

Oh, the memories of the 4-H horseshow...I spent many and hour cooking in the sun competing in these 4-H horse shows.

Then of course, we had to go back to my parents and find a way to cool off right?  Tiny found the perfect way to cool off...the sprinkler!  We of course in Alaska, don't play a lot in sprinklers, so this was a whole new novel idea for this Tiny Terror.  :)  She started in a little at a time, but when she saw that mom wasn't gonna stop her she jumped in...clothes and all.  And...having a blast in that water!  In fact, the one close-up pic of her smiling at me really says it all...I love that pic.

Oh...and the poor (kinda dumb) cat, Buttons...she loved that cat!  And, as you can see the cat is obviously not smart enough to run away from her.  He would get away after she had strangled him and get on top of the table just far enough away from her that she couldn't get him and then she would proceed to scream at him until he would jump down from the table...and she could get him again.  Man...she loves that cat!  See her smile of absolute joy as she's "loving" poor Buttons?!

And...in case you couldn't tell from the pics, south-east Idaho...and most of southern Idaho is on fire, and as a result it looks like it's over-cast all the time, but it makes for some very cool pics of a blood-red sun.  I took a couple of pics, but I have no idea how to really do it justice...yet.  Maybe someday I'll figure out how to take cool pics of the sun and moon.  But, for now you get a semi-cool pic of the sun behind a bunch of smoke.

Anyway...fun full day in Malad.
