“The submission of one’s will is really the only uniquely personal thing we have to place on God’s altar. The many other things we ‘give’ … are actually the things He has already given or loaned to us.”~Elder Neal A. Maxwell~

Splash Park for Kids...Bitch Creek for the Boys
It's now tradition for Grammy Jo to take kids to the splash park in Rexburg and treat them to the restored carousel and some cotton candy.
Unfortunately for Shordy he had been sick the night before...like throwing up sick. Not sure what the deal was. He acted much better in the morning, but you could tell he just wasn't running at 100%. So, he was a little more subdued at the splash park this year than he was last year. He only went down the little slide a couple of times, and I'm not sure he ever did go down the big slide...he's not a big fan of water on his face anyway, then add being sick to it and he wasn't tolerating much. But, he spent a lot of time in the little catch pool at the bottom of the big slide, which he loved.
However, Tiny is a HUGE fan of the water! You couldn't keep her out of the little fountains, walking under the pouring water from the big slide, etc. It'll be nice next year when she's big enough to climb up those stairs and go down the slide by herself, b/c I know she's gonna be all over that place!
After playing in the water we changed out to dry clothes and went for a ride on the carousel. It's a very old historical one that they restored in celebration of Idaho. It had the coolest painted horses, and the murals on the top we awesome too...I got some pics of it. Shordy loved riding by himself, but Tiny wasn't so sure about it when the horses started moving, so she and I resorted to sitting in one of the chairs which she was much more comfortable with.
Then of course Grammy Jo had to treat them to some cotton candy. Shordy had never had it and it took awhile to convince him it was good to eat. I wasn't sure I wanted to let him in on the wonderful world of cotton candy, b/c now I'm gonna have to share every time we get some. :) It didn't take long for Tiny to figure it out, and then Shordy followed suit. :)
After the cotton candy we went to the regular playground right there in the same park and played on the swings and slides and stuff waiting for Dad, Uncle Dust, and Papa Pond to show up from their fishing trip. They met us at the park and then we all walked across the street to get some Neilson's Frozen Custard. The BEST! Shordy still wasn't feeling so well...didn't eat any of his frozen custard, poor little boy. He promptly fell asleep in the car on the ride home. Tiny was in desperate need of a nap...she was quite the pill at the store. She's CONSTANTLY moving!
So that was our day...the boys went fishing. They hiked into a canyon to fish a creek called, Bitch Creek...yes that's it's real name. Shayne is pretty sure it's named that b/c of the hike it takes to get to the creek. Poor Dana was hurting pretty bad. He has to have a complete knee replacement surgery this winter, so I'm pretty sure this wasn't the most fun thing he had ever done. But the fishing was worth it! And the company was good as always. Shayne loves to fish with his brothers and his dad...his favorite fishing partners...after me of course. :)
They caught some nice Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, which Shayne took some very nice pics of. I loved the other pics Shayne took as well. It looked like a beautiful creek, and it was a nice day to fish. Even better was as they were driving back from the hike they saw a black bear just chilling in a grain field. Shayne took a pic of it with his phone, but I don't have it uploaded. He said that it was just chillin in the field and then all of the sudden it was like he heard something or just realized he was in the middle of a grain field unprotected and just took off running. Shayne said it was pretty amazing.
So, this was a fun day. Just wish our Mr. Shordy McGoo felt a little better.
