On Wednesday the 8th, we drove to Delta Junction and ended up staying at a B&B that night. Shayne had promised me we would get a hotel for one night of our trip so we could shower/bathe and sleep in a real bed. Well...Delta Junction only had ONE bed left in the town. We weren't going to sleep there, b/c the lady had family and wasn't really wanting guests. However, when she found out our situation with a baby, she insisted we come and spend the night. It was so nice to get a hot shower, bathe Lachlan and sleep in a real bed.
Well...I didn't sleep a whole lot...I got a minor case of food poisoning. Yup...not from our camping food, no...we got Carl's Jr. on our way out of Fairbanks. Ya...camping for a week and I get sick on fast food. Figures! I was pretty miserable the entire night, but was SOOOOO glad we were somewhere with a flushing toilet VERY close to the bedroom. It wasn't pretty! Sorry... :)
The next morning we headed back south towards the Paxon side of the Denali Hwy. We stopped on the Gulkana River, b/c Shayne had a buddy who had shared with him an unknown fishing spot. It was STELLAR!! I didn't go down initially, I stayed in the truck with a sleeping Lachlan. I still wasn't feeling so well. However, after Shayne came back and informed me he had caught at 18" Grayling, I had to go down. I didn't catch the 18"'er, but I caught one just a little smaller. Still the biggest fish I'd caught so far this trip. I would have a pic of it, but it jumped and slipped out of my hands before Shayne was able to snap the pic. It's all good though...you'll see why later. Anyway, it was fun fishing for them
